Job Description

Network Management Architecture and Specification team is responsible for MantaRay NM system architecture. Within the team which You would be joining, we are handling various operability domains (Fault Management, Configuration Management, Performance Management, Audit and Security), as well as network management system level design matters such as product platforms, their security, self-monitoring and high-availability features.
Team responsibilities also include the life-cycle management of virtualized/cloud-native network elements, in both Radio and Core networks.

We are a multi-national, multi-gender, multi-cultural team working on complex, system-wide aspects within MantaRay NM scope. We are also significant contributors to larger scale Mobile Networks level initiatives. We value team work and diversity of people who make up the team, and we support each other as well as Competence Area (CA) architects in reaching common goal of making MantaRay NM product better. Our team is responsible for defining the system level architecture for MantaRay products portfolio, and specifically MantaRay NM. The typical System Architect duties can be summarized as follows: MantaRay NM architecture design and associated architecture material creation, working on system specification artifacts, orchestrating, and executing the system level feasibility studies.

As we work on system-wide architecture aspects, it is vital to be able to interact efficiently (moderate discussions) with people outside one’s own team, especially with the Product Managers and the R&D experts. A system architect is also expected to cooperate with MN RAN Product Management, as well as other teams and departments within Nokia, as required in different phases of feature development (typically pre-FS0 till FS2).

Occasionally, it is required (and we consider it a pleasure) to interact with customer representatives, as well as Nokia strategic partners, like web-scale companies.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• MantaRay NM internal architecture design
• MantaRay NM Target Architecture design/contribution
• System Specification creation and reviews (FS1TA, CFAM-CP1/CP2 material and required SFS updates)
• System level feasibility studies (FSYs), possibly including PoC:s
• Occasional customer interactions in own system area, as well as Nokia strategic partners interactions
• Cooperation, support, and technical guidance for Product Managers
• Coaching CA architects in selected area of responsibility

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong experience (5+ years) with Nokia Cloud RAN and 5G system architecture
• Strong knowledge of at least one public/edge cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP and private cloud platforms: RedHat OpenShift, VMware Tanzu
• Former experience with Nokia’s Network Management solutions (MantaRay family) and/or management tools such as NADCM, NEAT and RHACM
• Knowledge of cloud-native applications and cloud infrastructure deployment, monitoring and upgrading practices
• Experience writing Nokia MN specifications (FS1TA/SFS/EFS level)
• Excellent communication (English) and cooperation skills to collaborate with people in a multi-site organization
